2:50 pm - Dog food question

punkfoomasta
Hello all,

Ever since he was adopted, we have fed our pup Cooper only natural food (our prior 2 dogs died of digestive-related tumors/cancers so we've been extra cautious). However we recently received a 20lb bag of Pedigree free with a coupon, so I thought we'd just see if he'd eat it. Well for the last 24 hours he's been acting like he's on uppers. Has anyone else noticed this kind of effect? I'm pretty sure it correlates to the sugar/carb percentage difference in the normal foods he gets and this new bag. I'm pretty sure that I'll be going immediately back to our regular stuff because for a dog under 2 this added energy is just insane! Thoughts?

Oh, and here's a recent pic just to give you an idea of what he looks like in case you forgot :)

12:23 am - Help me win $5000 for my local Humane Society!

Feel free to delete if this is not allowed.

I LOVE My dog, and he's a top-10 finalist in a dog-food contest. If he's selected the winner, we get dog food for life, $5000 for our animal charity of choice (the humane society we adopted him from) and a few other perks for me/us. If you have a moment, I'd appreciate your vote and comment! We're only a handful of votes behind, and the contest ends September 22, so I'm trying to push now! http://www.brickfish.com/Pages/PhotosAlbums/PhotoView.aspx?qsi=19512752 THANK YOU!!!

or click the link below. PLEASE if you have a moment, LEAVE A COMMENT. You can say anything as long as you keep it clean - or they'll take it down. That's where we're most lacking.

3:16 pm - Fleas

jen_floridagal
Ok here is the situation I have 6 puppies left from a litter of 8. They are 8 weeks old. I also have 4 adult dogs (including the nursing/weaning mama dog) The pups are small, and they go outside and play. They have fleas. Now 2 of the puppies are going to be flying home with their new owner this weekend. They were taken to the vet to get their health certificates and the vet gave them capstar to get the fleas off of them. I use brewers yeast & garlic tablet to help control fleas with the older dogs and it seemed to work well. My question is , what is the best thing to use to get the other puppies fleas free? I have adams flea spray, also adams flea bath and puppy flea shampoo.. Any idea anyone? Also for the record I am bombing the house this weekend for fleas.....

I am posting this in all pet communities because I think this is informative for pet lovers. If you would like it deleted please just say so.

I advise you do NOT buy from tagxpress.com / pet-id-tags.com

I recently bought two pet ID tags online from tagxpress.com / pet-id-tags.com, the lettering is uneven, some of the letters are so close together they touch & the brand new out of the envelope tags already have scratches on them. Because I was so unhappy with the product that I received, I emailed the company asking to be able to return the product & be refunded & this is how it went.Collapse )

loosers like google, yahoo and msn bots are banned on my website,If you have links on your webpage to these people,i suggest that you remove them because people like google steal images, email addresses then display them for all the other loosers to see, this is one of the reasons why there is so much spam. The google, yahoo
and msn people are lowlife (plus other morons who have search bots)

My Sophie....she's sweet, but she's a killer.

"Indestructible Toy"  (My favorite, to just see the sheer SPEED of her thrashing - 30 seconds)

and

"The Postman."   (My favorite to see how INTENSE she is about killing her toys...and getting me to throw them - 66 seconds.)

....then she gets distracted and runs into the kitchen.  "Something shiny, mama!"  Ha.

2:05 pm - Weimaraner Blues

bleakronin
My girlfriend and I have a year and half old weimaraner by the name of Loki. He is very energetic and some would say crazy but he is our boy none the less. About six months ago he developed an unusual, now bear with me this is difficult to describe, a growth, inflammation on his inner right eye above the tear duct. It has a pink color to it and it cuases him to generate a slightly increased amount of eye boogers then usual. He doesn't seem to be bothered by this at all but we are just curious if it is actually anything serious before we take him to a vet and find out it could be nothing. Anyone experience anything unsual like this or possibly know what it may be?

Here is a picture of our lovley pup:

hey guys! just wondering if anyone knows the daily nutrients a dog should have...sort of like what would be in a "one-a-day" vitamin pill that humans take. thanks in advance!

8:55 pm - Vomiting

megamanfre
We just adopted a dog from the Monmouth SPCA. We got her home a couple of hours ago, and she seems to be doing great. She didnt seem to be getting car sick, she was just laying down on the back seat and seemed fine.

We fed her a little over a cup of dry food, mixed with some wet food. What we are feeding her is Nutro Natural Choice (green bag) Lamb meal and rice, and a packet of Nutro Lamb Stew Chunks in Gravy. They sell it in little packets, and it seemed like it would taste better than the canned stuff, because its more like real food. Just before we took her out for a second time tonight, she threw up everything. It wasnt digested, and the first glob of throw up was cold, the second glob had some warmth to it, but for the most part, everything looked like it was just chewed up, almost as if she were bulemick or something.

Also, the first time we walked her, when she pooped, it seemed very liquidy, and was soft. Now, we are mixing half of the food we are feeding her, with the food they fed her at the SPCA, to get her used to it instead of introducing it to her all at once. The second time we took her out, her poop was very similar, and quite a bit more. She also has really (and I mean REALLY) bad gas, and it stinks to high heaven.

Now, Im sure that she just needs to get used to being in a new home, and is nervous, so thats why it seems like she has diahrea, has gas, and threw up, but I wanted to make sure, and make sure first. Shes a collie-mastiff (has the coloring and size of a collie, and the hair and facial shape of a mastiff) and is 10 months old. What they were feeding her, and we are giving as half of her food, is Hills Science Diet.

Is there anything I can do to make her feel better, so that shes not nearly as nervous? We have a bunch of toys for her, and bed and a BUNCH of stuff for her to play with, and to make her feel more at home. Is there anything else I can do to make her feel even more at home?

This is my dog, Cry. I got her from the pound about 6 months ago. Shes now just over a year and stands at about 23 inches at the shoulder. I was wondering if anyone had any idea what she could be mixed with. The tip of her hair especially around her neck is redish (if that helps)

Hey!

I just wanted to invite you all to join my community mypuppylove. It's just getting started and I'm dying to get it active. It's basically a knowledge-swapping, photo/story sharing place for the owners of spoiled little puppies. There's an application in the info page, which is mainly just for introductions right now.

The weekly photo theme is: "My puppy wishlist"... you post pictures of what you want. This could mean another dog, a specific doghouse, or maybe a costume you think is fun.
